STREATOR – Rescue crews and volunteers will resume their search on Monday morning for a kayaker who went missing in the Vermilion River near Streator.
Authorities say Jake Rodriguez, 22, of Streator was kayaking with two other people when he fell out of his kayak Saturday afternoon. The two other kayakers made it out of the water and the kayak was recovered. Searchers say it’s now a recovery mission for Rodriguez.
The Hudson Fire Department’s dive team has been brought in to assist in the search effort.
A relative told WLS-TV Rodriguez was an experienced kayaker.
