BLOOMINGTON – Constitution Trail and Sugar Creek could use some sprucing up and soon an army of volunteers plan to do it.
Ecology Action Center is working with Bloomington’s Beautification Committee and the Town of Normal on community-wide cleanup week April 17-22.
“People are looking to get outside and enjoy the outdoors as the weather gets nicer and nicer everyday, so it’s just a nice opportunity to put that desire together with the need to help clean up our environment a little bit,” EAC Director Michael Brown said.
Brown said the cleanup has an environmental component.
“It’s kind of a bigger picture issue that in addition to the aesthetic benefits of having a nice clean community, also the public health benefits of doing these cleanup efforts are also very important,” Brown said.
Brown said volunteers and groups can signup online to clean up any part of the community, but they are specifically looking for help the morning of April 22 along Constitution Trail and Sugar Creek in Bloomington near Tipton Park and in Normal, near Anderson and Fairview parks by clearing invasive plant species.
