BLOOMINGTON – Mid Central Community Action has received a $50,000 grant from Ameren Illinois to assist clients who are a part of MCCA’s income support program.

“Thanks to Ameren Illinois’ generosity, MCCA will be able to continue our vision to enhance our community while preserving the environment,” said Deborah White, MCCA’s Executive Director. “Now, even more individuals and families will be have access to the tools they need to increase their energy efficiency which will have a significant impact on their overall financial security.”

This is the second year that MCCA has received a grant used to provide direct client assistance. It will also fund energy-efficiency educational programming and a pilot program for low-income families that is being done collaboration with the Ecology Action Center.

The grant funds were made available through the Ameren Cares program, which connects Ameren Illinois with the communities it serves through charitable giving and volunteering. Shirley Stennis, Director of Customer Service, Ameren Illinois, said a key focus of this program is to partner with non-profit organizations like MCCA to improve the quality of life in Ameren Illinois’ service territory.

“We care about our customers and understand that many face fundamental challenges to their quality of life,” said Stennis. “Through our partnership with MCCA, we are able to reach customers, particularly those struggling with the lack of financial stability who are seeking relief to pay their energy bills.”
