BLOOMINGTON – The Chateau Hotel and Conference Center has been allowed to reopen by the City of Bloomington.
The city forced the hotel to close last week after discovering the building had a non-operational fire alarm system. Community Development Director Tom Dabareiner said the Chateau was cooperative throughout this whole process.
“(They) contracted right away for repairs to their alarm panel. Those repairs appeared to be pretty significant,” said Dabareiner. “They were inspected, and we double checked everything today (Wednesday), and I personally saw everything was working to our satisfaction.”
Dabareiner explained the city does not like forcing businesses to close, but felt they had no choice in this situation.
“We do want to help whenever we can to get them open. In this case, the Chateau Hotel helped themselves pretty well by contracting right away for the repairs,” he said.
Tony Roma’s, the restaurant connected to the Chateau, was allowed to stay open while the problem was fixed.
