BLOOMINGTON – Ameren Illinois is offering financial help to some of its customers who are having trouble paying their power bills.
The utility is hosting an event on Wednesday to meet with customers Stacey Young of Ameren said one-time grants of $150 are available to those who meet income guidelines.
“Right now we’re looking to assist anywhere from 350 to 450 customers who may be eligible for that grant assistance,” Young said. “We encourage all customers who may have experienced high energy bills over these last few winter months to come in and speak to us in person if they want to talk about their bill.”
Ameren representatives will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church on Market Street in Bloomington. The grants are limited and distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Bring a photo ID, the current Ameren bill and proof of the household’s 30-day income.
Young says all Ameren customers are invited to meet with representatives to discuss their bill.
