BLOOMINGTON – Kirk Zimmerman, who is accused of shooting his ex-wife Pamela in 2014, was in court Friday afternoon.

McLean County Judge Scott Drazewski heard testimony from a witness who claimed they saw Zimmerman flee the scene of the crime in November 2014. The witness was approached by police officers in March 2016 (following up on a lead concerning a witness) and engaged in a computerized lineup, where they identified Zimmerman as the person they saw.

Defense attorney John Rogers argued the testimony was inadmissible due to the nature of the lineup and identification, while state prosecutors asserted the witness’s identification of Zimmerman held up in court.

Judge Drazewski decided to continue examination of witness testimony credibility and legitimacy on April 25.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
