State dismisses charges against Bloomington firefighter

BLOOMINGTON – Domestic battery charges against a Bloomington firefighter were dropped Tuesday in McLean County Court.

Jon Caponi, who remains on administrative leave from the fire department, was charged in November in connection with an incident involving his girlfriend. The charges accused Caponi of pushing the woman down the stairs.

The state said it dismissed the charges due in part to inconsistent statements from the alleged victim.
