NORMAL – The Illinois State University Board of Trustees inducted three new members this morning, following the resignations of three of the board’s members.
Julie Jones, John Rauschenberger, and Sharon Rossmark are all alumni of ISU. They were chosen by Governor Bruce Rauner to fill the vacancies left by Jay D. Bergman, Anne Davis, and Betty Kinser. Jones explained the induction to the board was a surprise for her.
“I’m just excited to serve. I can’t believe it, this is nothing I would have expected to happen 31 years ago,” said Jones. “I’ve been involved as an alumn for over 20 years on various levels. I never expected this.”
Jones worked in telecommunications before moving into a successful career in law. Rauschenberger relfected on the experience and lessons he learned at school and how it shaped him into the person he is today.
“The opportunity to give back from a perspective that Illinois State developed my foundation for my adult career in life, having come here out of high school and getting undergrad my degree and graduate degree here on campus,” said Rauschenberger. “It was my facilitator and my direction career-wise.”
Rauschenberger explained he’s excited to give back to the university. Rossmark said she’s eager to work with the school’s leadership team.
“My time here on the campus, even as a student and all the way through even when I was a member different communities, it has been the passion that the school exudes and the leadership that allows you to shape yourself and become a part of the community,” said Rossmark.
With the inductions of Jones, Rauschenberger, and Rossmark, Bob Dobski is now the most senior member of the Board of Trustees.
