BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington is moving closer to rehabilitating the Linden Street Bridge.
The city council will vote next week on approving construction easements with the Bloomington Normal Water Reclamation District. Public Works Director Jim Karch explained the city is preparing to bid the project, but first needs to ensure it has these easements.
“The key thing for citizens to know is, this bridge, we’re looking to widen it so that it can accommodate a future Constitution Trail along Sugar Creek,” said Karch. “The Constitution Trial is one of the most popular amenities in the community and so this really positions us for the long term benefit of adding the Constitution Trail along Sugar Creek.”
Karch said the city will also vote on setting aside $1.8 million in motor fuel tax funds, which will help pay for the project.
