BLOOMINGTON – A nine-year-old local patient is living proof of the work of St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Cael Wolf remembers his first of many visits to the St. Jude affiliate in Peoria after he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma:
“It’s cool and amazing, but then a lot of it is you’re scared when you walk in,” Cael said. “But they take care of you.”
Bryan Wolf says his mind raced when his son Cael was first diagnosed with ALL.
“The first thought you’re thinking about is my kid is going to survive this,” Bryan Wolf said. “Then you start to think, okay, now how am I going to pay for this. St. Jude pretty quickly within the first couple hours of being in Peoria we were made aware that our inability to pay would not be an issue.”
Cael has three chemotherapy treatments remaining. The annual Radio Bloomington St. Jude Radiothon continues on WJBC through Friday. The funds raised continue the St. Jude efforts to make sure families don’t pay for their child’s treatment. The number is 800-374-4995 to become a Partner In Hope.
