NORMAL – Illinois State football head coach Brock Spack has initiated the process to release recent signee Rashaun Woods from his National Letter of Intent signed last Wednesday.
Woods last week was charged with three counts of first degree rape or attempted rape and one count of first degree sodomy or attempted sodomy.
“We have begun the process to release Rashaun from his NLI effective immediately,” Spack said. “He will not be a part of the Redbird Football program moving forward and we will turn our focus to the beginning of spring workouts in March.”
Woods, a 6-foot-1, 200 pound linebacker from Jefferson City, Missouri, signed with the Redbirds on Feb. 1 as part of National Signing Day. He ran for 897 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior and also recorded 20 tackles on the defensive side of the ball.
