PEORIA – A former Bloomington police department worker has lost lawsuit with the city over her firing in 2011.
A Peoria County jury yesterday sided with Bloomington in the suit filed by Amy Ward. She claims she was fired after she blew the whistle on two police officials in a dispute over how the department stored evidence. The city claimed Ward’s firing was justified because she did didn’t follow orders on where to store evidence.
The jury returned its verdict on Thursday following a three-day trial.
Ward was seeking $53,000 in back pay and benefits.
