BLOOMINGTON – Homeless and hurting youth in Bloomington-Normal have a place to turn for hope.
Colleen O’Conner with Project Oz in Bloomington says area police and fire stations along with all Connect Transit Buses are now safe places.
“So, for example if they have run away from home because they are being abused or if their parent has locked them out for some kind of communication problem at home or maybe they have been couch surfing, but they no longer have somewhere to stay, this is the kind of thing that they can immediately get them the services that they need,” said O’Conner.
O’Conner says the youth will be referred to Project Oz and then given the help that they need to keep them out of danger.
