BLOOMINGTON – A former member of the Normal Town Council is this year’s recipient of the WJBC Don Munson Spirit of McLean County Award.
Sonja Reece received the honor during this morning’s American Red Cross Saluting Our Heroes Breakfast.
“I’m so appreciative of what this community has done for me and my family, for the quality of life that we have experienced,” said Reece while accepting her award, “but more importantly, for the opportunity to get involved.”
Reece made it clear that she wants to continue that involvement.
“I’m so appreciative the opportunities many of you in this room have given me to get involved with some of your projects, your causes and to share your vision,” Reece told the breakfast attendees. “I’m looking forward to doing that in the future in new and exciting ways. Let’s talk.”
Reece’s honor was one of eight handed out during the event at the Doubletree by Hilton in Bloomington. The Spirit of McLean County Award recognizes significant contributions to the improvement in the area’s initiative, industry, imagination and compassion.
