MACKINAW – Voters in the Deer Creek-Mackinaw School District have approved a $6 million referendum to build a new football stadium at Dee-Mack High School along with other athletic upgrades.
The new stadium will include a track, artificial turf, LED lighting. The rest of the funding will pay for parking lot improvements and roof replacements at each of its schools.
But voters rejected a 30-cent increase in its property tax rate for the education fund. That would have offset a top in the district’s bonds and interest tax rate.
Taxpayers will now be paying off those bonds for an additional seven years, through 2024.
