BLOOMINGTON – Sure he’s a Cubs fan, but State Sen. Jason Barickman said the Chicago Cubs’ World Series title in a good thing for Illinois, even if you are a fan of another team , say the Chicago White Sox or St. Louis Cardinals.
PODCAST: Listen to Scott’s interview with Barickman on WJBC.
“I really think it is good for the state just to give us something positive to talk about,” Barickman told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin. “We are days before a national election, the mood of the country is so negative and bitter and divided.”
Illinois is going to get some Ohio beer and ballpark mustard as part of a World Series wager the two governors made.
Had the Cubs lost to the Cleveland Indians in the World Series, Gov. Bruce Rauner would have sent Chicago-style deep-dish pizza and microbrew beer from Chicago to Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
