BLOOMINGTON – If the Chicago Cubs end up winning their first World Series title in over a century, anything ‘Cubs’ will be flying off store shelves, and some of it will be made in Bloomington.
Major League Baseball and the Cubs have contracted with Minerva Promotions to provide Cubs’ World Series champion t-shirts. Owner Tony Todaro said if the Cubs win, his automated screen printing machines will have to crank out up to 1,750 t-shirts per hour.
“The hardest part to this is actually getting enough t-shirts to be able to run these jobs,” Todaro said. “They are telling is if the Chicago Cubs do win this will be the largest apparel merchandising opportunity that’s ever been seen.”
Minerva produced Super Bowl Champion shirts when the Indianapolis Colts beat the Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl in 2007. Todaro says he was already rooting for the Cubs. He’s from the Chicago suburbs.
“To have the opportunity to be a part of history is extremely exciting to us,” Torado said.
