BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL – The unemployment rate for Bloomington-Normal has risen slightly from one year ago.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports the local September jobless rate was 5.1 percent, up from 4.6 percent in September 2015.
The agency reports Bloomington-Normal lost 2,300 jobs during the past year. The Twin Cities region is one of eight across Illinois recording a jump in unemployment.
