BLOOMINGTON – An event Wednesday night at First Christian Church in Bloomington will allow those who attend to walk the steps of a domestic violence victim.
It’s one piece of the domestic violence forum being hosted by Mid Central Community Action, Not In Our Town and the McLean County India Association.
“We have different stations and you have character cards that gives you a background about the character and starts directing you to go to different stations and actually provide an opportunity to make different choices just like a survivor would do,” Mid Central Countering Domestic Violence director Senna Adjabeng said.
Adjabeng added the simulations are based on real situations people have been through.
“This is just a small opportunity,” said Adjabeng. “It doesn’t give people the real life experience of what a survivor has actually gone through, but it gives them some type of understanding.”
The event will be at 6 p.m. at First Christian Church on West Jefferson Street in Bloomington. It will also include an open discussion on the issue and a pledge action on behalf of those who experience domestic violence in their lives.
