BLOOMINGTON – The Chicago Cubs are heading to their first World Series in 71 years.
Bloomington resident Dewey Wills said he’s been a Cubs’ fan for nearly half a century, starting in his grade school days.
“In fifth grade we did a bus trip for crossing guards and got to go to the game,” said Wills. “Just being at Wrigley, seeing the ivy, seeing the game, made it come home and be the clincher.”
Wills said he hopes the Cubs can kick the nickname, “loveable losers.”
“As far as the goat curse, it was kind of funny because we did kind of believe that when we were younger. There’s got to be something to this!” said Wills.
The first game of the World Series against Cleveland is Tuesday.
