NORMAL – Illinois State University students “took back the night” Tuesday night.
Take Back the Night march and rally raises awareness about sexual assault on campus and domestic violence. It’s an annual event put on by the Feminist Led Activist Movement to Empower (FLAME).
FLAME President and ISU junior Delaney Auth said getting people to talk about these issues can go a long way.
“We need to get people talking about it and caring about it and getting riled up, so that we can change the system,” she said.
Auth added the fact a sexual assault allegedly took place on campus this summer makes this year’s even a little more powerful.
“That one was really highly publicized, but it’s also something that happens a lot even on our campus,” Auth said.
Auth added Take Back the Night is an empowering experience.
