NORMAL – Maynards Industries delaying an auction of the former Mitsubishi Motors plant in Normal is “encouraging” to Normal City Manager Mark Peterson.
Maynards had set an auction of the plant’s assets for next week. A post on the company’s website said the auction was postponed due to concern of an “entirety sale.” Peterson told WJBC’s Dan Swaney Maynards would prefer to sell the property as one package.
“Apparently, a last minute interested party came forward and was able to convince the company to postpone the auction,” he said.
Maynards bought the now closed plant earlier this year. Peterson added he does not believe there has been a transaction between Maynards and the potential buyer.
