BLOOMINGTON – Hiring trends could change based on a new federal overtime law.
McLean County Chamber of Commerce Director Charlie Moore says businesses big and small will be affected.
“That goes into effect as of December 1,” said Moore. “So that is not the end of the year and that does not follow the presidential term that is December 1. So businesses need to act now if they have not already to determine how they address that.”
Moore wonders if the new law will harm the potential for people to become employed.
The federal law requires any full time employees making under $48,000 a year to be paid overtime for any hours worked over 40 per week.
