BLOOMINGTON – A candidate for Bloomington alderman hopes to get citizens more engaged in city government.
Sue Feldkamp running for Ward 1 Alderman, the seat current held by Kevin Lower, who has announced he’s running for mayor in April. Feldkamp told WJBC’s Terry James Bloomington has a low voter turnout, which she wants to see improve.
“A lot of people don’t even know who their alderman is or what ward the live in,” said Feldkamp. “I’d like to get people more involved with that.”
Feldkamp also wants to improve the city’s streets and infrastructure.
“A lot of our pipes are over 100 years old for sewer and solid waste and I’d like to see the money going towards that, as well as police and fire,” she said.
Feldkamp was most recently a member of Bloomington’s liquor commission, but Mayor Tari Renner recently announced the commission will consist of just him for the time being.
