NORMAL – Normal’s Town Council will vote Monday on a $1.4 million contract with WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff for the first phase of engineering services for a future underpass at Uptown Station.
Deputy City Manager Pamela Reece explained the council had already approved the group to do this work, but had not ironed out an official contract yet.
“It would include environmental studies, all the appropriate surveying, and then conceptual drawings for an underpass project,” said Reece. “It will take about two years for all this work to get done for the initial planning, but after that we should be prepared for construction documents. That phase should move faster.”
Reece added it’s still not guaraneteed this project will become reality. Whether or not the underpass is ever built will depend largely on what type of funding the town can secure
