The newest staff member of the Children’s Advocacy Center in Bloomington is a black lab named Joch.
After a few months on the job, Assistant District Attorney Jake Harlow says Joch has been a comfort to children that come through their office.
“Long term our plan is to use him in the courtroom for actual trials and the trial prep leading up to trials, but right now his primary day to day task is when children come into the center their often leary and apprehensive about being there,” said Harlow.
The dog stays with Harlow during non-work hours.
McLean County is only one of three counties in the state that has a service animal at a Children’s Advocacy Center.
