NORMAL – A full scale active shooter drill will be held at Heartland Community College Friday.
It takes place from 11-3. Executive Director of Facilities James Hubbard says police, firefighters, and hostage negotiators will be taking part.
“When you think about incidents like the Townville Elementary incident in South Carolina on Wednesday this is becoming more and more in the news and we just felt that we needed to have all employees practice what they would do in a real incident,” said Hubbard.
Hubbard says this will be the first time they have asked the entire campus population to move into a locked down position behind closed doors.
