BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington city snow plows and trucks will have a place to park out of the elements this winter.
The Bloomington City Council has approved spending about $73,000 on a quonset-hut-style hard fabric shell. Assistant City Manager Steve Rasmussen told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin the trucks have been parking in the deteriorating former Connect Transit barn.
“That has been falling apart and Connect Transit knows they’re going to have to tear it down,” Assistant City Manager Steve Rasmussen told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin. “For us to lease it and repair it again would cost us nearly $100,000.”
Rasmussen says the shell will be put up south of the city garage. He says it’s a temporary structure that can be moved to a new city facility when it is built.
