BLOOMINGTON – A 74 year old First Student bus driver from Normal is back on the job even after being fired as a driver following a three vehicle wreck.
Yahya Khalilallah was behind the wheel of the bus transporting Unit five students when he allegedly caused a three vehicle wreck on Veterans Parkway. It happened September 13th. No students were injured, but some parents took their children to the hospital as a safety precaution. The driver was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Khalilallah has prior citations for driving without a valid license, insurance, and driving on a suspended license. The man has been hired back to be a bus monitor.
Parents will again face the Unit five school board next week at their regular meeting. It has again been moved to Normal West High School because of the expected crowd.
