Bloomington man arrested following car burglaries

BLOOMINGTON – Police say a car burglar was caught red-handed early Friday morning.

Bloomington Police say someone called the department at about 2:40 a.m. to report they saw someone breaking into cars along the 1200 block of North Main Street near the Illinois Wesleyan University campus.

Police say a 24-year-old Bloomington man is responsible for ‘smash-and-grabs’ of at least two vehicles in that area. Police says they recovered multiple stolen items that were in his possession.

The man has been taken into custody awaiting formal charges.
