BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts is preparing for its 10th anniversary.
The City Council will commemorate the event during its meeting Monday night. BCPA Director since December 2013 Tina Salamone said she’s implemented a few changes in her time running the show.
“We lowered ticket prices, I think, pretty dramatically. We’ve probably programmed, I don’t know that it’s a more diverse schedule, but I think the programming hits people on a more popular cultural level in a lot of cases,” she said.
Salamone explained they have a special program planned for Sept. 16, which marks exactly 10 years since the first show at the BCPA.
“Instead of bringing in a big outside act, or maybe one of the most popular artists that has graced the stage there, what we decided to do was pay homage to a lot of the different shows that has been presented there,” said Salamone. “By utilizing local actors, singers, dancers.”
Also on Monday, the council will hear a presentation on capital financing from Finance Director Patti-Lynn Silva.
