BLOOMINGTON – State Farm Corporate South in Bloomington was the site for the 6th annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Saturday morning.
Marketing Director Katie Parker said a little morning rain couldn’t stop the event and its roughly 1,000 participants. She added the event had a new feature this year, a Kids for the Cure Corner.
“This is an addition that we hope is a success and we hope to bring back year after year,” Parker said.
Parker said this event is really about the survivors.
“It’s a time for them to meet each other and celebrate strength and hope,” said Parker. “And really pray for the cures.”
Parker explained last year’s race brought in a total of $230,000. She said it’ll be about a month before this year’s total is tallied, but entering Saturday about $30,000 had been raised.
