BLOOMINGTON – A man facing several counts of attempted first degree murder was in McLean County court for a review hearing.
36 year old Jason Hopkins was found mentally unfit to stand trial and remains that way. State’s Attorney Jason Chambers said another review hearing is set for November.
“We could seek a civil commitment and go forward with it that way,” said Chambers. “We could look at options with proceeding towards a not guilty by reason of insanity. There’s different options we could look at legally.”
Hopkins is accused of knocking one person down near the McLean County Museum of History. He then allegedly stabbed a downtown employee and a German tourist.
He is also charged with aggravated battery after he spit at the judge during his arraignment hearing last year.
