BLOOMINGTON – Normal City Manager Mark Peterson has been named the parade marshal for the annual McLean County Labor Day Parade in Bloomington.
Ronn Morehead, Bloomington-Normal Trades & Labor Assembly President said Peterson sees that maintaining decent jobs is what makes a strong community.
“Mark has long had an open door and concern for the entire county,” Morehead said. “Agree or disagree, Mark always shares the full information that decisions are based on in an honest and straight-forward manner. As a city manager, he sees that maintaining decent jobs is what makes a strong community. He’s been a faithful advocate for using local contractors and local labor, knowing this insures a quality project for the Town.”
Peterson, an Iowa native, has been Normal’s city manager since 1998 and has worded for the town for 28 years.
This year’s parade has the theme “Protect Your Paycheck: Vote!”
The parade is free and open to the public. Lineup begins along Front Street at 9 a.m. with the parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will march south on Lee Street to Wood Street, then conclude at Miller Park.
