BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington-Normal housing sales continue showing improvement.
Numbers from the local Association of Realtors show overall says are up 5.2 percent year-to-date. Association President Karen Stailey-Lander said the housing market is “doing great.”
“I think the most significant driving force is the low rates continuing to remain steady,” she said.
Existing home sales are no up 5.9 percent for the year. However, new construction sales are still down for 2016, by about 4 percent. Stailey-Lander explained those numbers are catching up to 2015.
“And in fact the pending sales with new construction remain higher than they were last year,” said Stailey-Lander. “I really think that we’re going to catch those numbers.”
Stailey-Lander added the average days on the market for closed sales is 60 days, which indicates properties priced right and in very good condition are selling quickly.
