SPRINGFIELD – The 2016 Illinois State Fair is facing continued problems due to the wet weather.
State Fair Spokeswoman Rebecca Clark said the truck and tractor pull in the arena has been cancelled for Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday’s tractor pull are set to move forward as scheduled.
Musical group New Odyssey is being moved to a different stage Monday night because of the weather. That concert will now be free. Clark said nice weather over the weekend did help the condition of the fairgrounds.
“We had some campers displaced because of that,” said Clark. “We were able to bring in the Red Cross as a precaution. We had about five people that needed assistance with overnight accommodations that night. But, by the time morning came around all the water had receded and the fair gates opened on time.”
Clark said news of Friday’s wet weather did not keep people from enjoying the state fair this past weekend.
