BLOOMINGTON – For 14 years OSF has been collecting shoes for those in need at Home Sweet Home Ministries in Bloomington.
Home Sweet Home Communications Director Leslie Bungee says the tradition continues as the annual Shoe Drive is underway through Sunday.
“The community has just been so wonderful to us that we have had to switch from counting pairs of shoes to actually just taking in the weight…how much it is,” said Bungee. “For instance, last year we got over 3,367 pounds of shoes to donate to Home Sweet Home and we can’t thank the community enough for all their support.”
Drop your gently used shoes off at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, OSF Medical Group on East College or the Center for Health at Fort Jesse.
You are asked to rubber band or zip-tie each pair of shoes together before dropping them in the collection bins to help with the sorting process.
