NORMAL – If your son or daughter is headed off to college, Illinois State University Police Chief Aaron Woodruff said there are a few conversations you need to have.
Woodruff recommends talking to your child about alcohol use and talking to them about consensual sex.
He said there was some misinformation about an alleged sexual assault on ISU Preview Day.
“The father didn’t actually put any substance in the girl’s drink, it was a third party that did,” said Woodruff. “The young lady knowingly consumed the drink with the substance in it.”
Those individuals are currently facing charges. Woodruff said most sexual assault cases on campus involve alcohol and drugs.
Woodruff also points out that drinking alcohol isn’t always the problem, it’s the students actions after consuming the beverage.
