CHICAGO – The Chicago Bears might be on the lookout for a new starting center after Family Fest at Soldier Field on Saturday.
Center Hroniss Grasu left the scrimmage with a knee injury he suffered near the sidelines while the starting offense looked to execute a screen pass.
“I don’t know the extent of it. It looked fairly serious, but we don’t really know until medical people look at it,” said Fox. “It was non-contact.”
As of Saturday afternoon, Grasu was still to be evaluated. Fox talked about the depth the Bears have behind Grasu.
“We’re always looking to get getter, but we feel good about the guys we have. I thought we actually ran the ball pretty good today,” he said.
The scrimmage was an intense one overall. The sidelines nearly cleared after Offensive lineman Ted Larson and linebacker Lamin Barrow got into a scuffle.
“It was disappointing today,” said Fox. “That kind of stuff happens a little bit at camp, but we’re getting pretty close to games. You’ve got to be able to control that and not lose control of your emotions.”
The Bears will return to Bourbonnais for a pair of practices this coming week before playing their first preseason game Thursday at home against the Broncos.
