BLOOMINGTON – Men, women, and children are invited to the breastfeeding awareness walk Saturday.
Assistant Director of the McLean County Health Department Cathy Coverston Anderson said the goal is to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding.
“Research shows that babies who are exclusively breastfed for six months are less likely to develop ear infections. diarrhea, and respiratory illnesses and may be less likely to develop childhood obesity,” said Anderson.
Registration for the event begins at 9:30 Saturday Morning at the health department in downtown Bloomington. The walk starts at 10. At 10:30 all women will stop and participate in the worldwide Big Latch On where mother child pairs will try and break a record for the most women breastfeeding at one time.
