BLOOMINGTON – A McLean County Judge has set bond at $6 million for a man who allegedly stabbed and killed his parents in rural Bloomington on Sunday.
Brian Petersen, 25, has been charged with four counts of first degree murder for the deaths.
“There’s different ways a murder can be charged,” said State’s Attorney Jason Chambers. “So we have it charged two different ways for each victim.”
During a bond hearing Monday afternoon, Chambers said one of the victims, Bruce Petersen, made a 911 call in which he said Brian Petersen his son – had killed his wife Nancy Petersen and stabbed him multiple times. Brian Petersen was arrested at the scene.
“What was read into the probable cause statement was that he (Brian Petersen) had made a statement that he had done the killing of his parents,” Chambers said.
Bruce Petersen was found alive at the scene and was take to a hospital where he died Sunday.
Brian Petersen is scheduled to appear on court for arraignment on Aug. 12.
