Richard J. Bromley, 79, of Bloomington passed away at 8:35 a.m. on July 23 at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal.
His Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Kibler- Brady- Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded. Internment will be at South Side Cemetery in Pontiac.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
Richard was born in Pontiac on May 5, 1937, a son to Frank and Ella McKinley Bromley.
He married Mary Alice Opperman in Pontiac on October 19, 1959. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2016.
Surviving are his children, Michael Bromley, Phoenix, Ariz.; Linda (Dan) Gerber, Bowling Green, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Davis and Drake Gerber, both of Bowling Green, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a son, Steven Bromley.
Richard was a member of First United Methodist Church in Normal. He retired from GTE in Bloomington in 1993. He was heavily involved in politics and was a proud member of the GOP.
He and Mary were graduates of Illinois Wesleyan University and enjoyed following Titan Sports. He loved fishing at Bayles Lake, especially when his grandsons were able to join him.
