From voter registration sites to early voting sites, McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael is thinking about using Pokemon Go to lure potential voters.

The mobile phone game is sending millennials and others out in droves searching for the cartoon creatures.

“It’s not really our job to spur up the interest,” said Michael. “That’s the job of the candidates. But, if we can help tell people about the locations, we’re thinking this might draw more people to early voting.”

Michael said she will download the game on her own time to test it out. Before November Michael is reminding residents that their current address needs to match the address on their voter ID cards.

Michael said she will evaluate any cost to taxpayers before moving forward.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
