NORMAL – The Town of Normal is joining the National Recreation and Park Association in celebrating Parks and Recreation month during July.
Normal Communications and Marketing Specialist Jenni Blum said it’s the first time the town has joined the national effort. The purpose is to raise awareness for the benefits of parks and recreation.
“We have numerous facilities and outdoor spaces that really help people inspire a healthy lifestyle,” said Blum. “We’ve got the Constitution Trail, Ironwood Golf Course, our aquatic centers – both Fairview and Anderson.”
Blum also pointed out the 17 municipal parks in the town. She added the national theme this year is “super heroes.”
“I think the reason it ties into Parks and Recreation month is we feel like, with parks and recreation activities people can discover their super powers,” Blum said.
