SPRINGFIELD – Summer brings storms with high winds and the potential to damage houses and businesses. That also can bring about scammers that are looking to prey on individuals who need repairs done on buildings.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan wants you to think things through and check out anyone who you are considering working on your home. Madigan said there are warning signs that someone might be trying to rip you off.
“Often times what they do when you encounter them is they pressure you into agreeing to a contract and to paying up front for work that often times will never get done,” Madigan said.
Low prices and anything that seems too good to be true are all things to think about when evaluating the situation. She also says don’t pay in cash and never pay the entire amount until the job is done.
