NORMAL – The relationship between Illinois State and the Town of Normal has probably never been this strong, according to City Manager Mark Peterson.
Those were his words Monday night following a presentation to the Town Council on the recent International Town/Gown Association Conference, which the town and ISU attended together.
“It wasn’t always like this, but if we need something they bend over backwards to try to work with us and I hope we do the same,” said Peterson. “I feel like we’re on the same page. We’re moving in the same direction.”
Councilman R.C. McBride said he’s proud to see how strong the relationship between the school and town has become.
“Not surprised, but very proud to hear that both of our entities are at the forefront of these issues nationally and we should all feel very good about that,” McBride said.
Also on Monday, the council approved a $483,352 contract with Stark Excavating for the reconstruction of Virginia Avenue between University Street to Franklin Avenue.
