Bloomington police seize synthetic drugs in convenience store raid

Bloomington police have arrested a Peoria man after seizing synthetic drugs, guns and cash at a Bloomington convenience store last week.

Police say Naiel Asad, 50, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and money laundering.

Police report making controlled purchases of synthetic drugs with the street name “spice” out of Price Rite Food Mart on Clinton Street. During searches at the business and a Peoria home, police say they seized a large amount of synthetic drugs, two handguns, a vehicle and more than $44,000 in cash.

Bond for Asad is set at $500,000.
