NORMAL – The water department in Normal is losing its leader later this summer.
Department Director Steve Gerdes has announced his retirement, effective in August. The town said it’s beginning a national search to replace Gerdes.
Gerdes began working for Normal in 1997. He has served 36 years in the public water supply industry.
