BLOOMINGTON – The Salvation Army of McLean County is recruiting fans–the ones that relieve the summer heat.
The annual fan drive is accepting monetary donations and new and gently used fans to distribute next month according to the Salvation Army’s Angie Fulton.
“Box fans aren’t that expensive, but when you’re struggling to put food on the table anything you can get is going to help,” Fulton told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin. “If you have the capacity to go buy one and donate it to us, please consider doing that.”
Donations are accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. at the Corps Community Center at 611 W. Washington St. in Bloomington. The first fans will be distributed to senior citizens and those with documented medical needs beginning July 11. Anyone else who needs a fan and did not receive one in last year’s drive can receive one beginning July 18. More information is at sabloomington.org.
