SPRINGFIELD – Longtime State Representative Frank Mautino coasted to confirmation as Auditor General with bipartisan support. Now he faces a bipartisan backlash.
Democratic State Sen. Laura Murphy of Des Plaines is asking Mautino to take a leave of absence while federal officials look into his campaign expenses from his time in the General Assembly. She believes a leave of absence is in the best interest of the state’s government and taxpayers.
There’s no comment so far from Mautino.
